Response from John, Hartford, WI

Two economists at the University of Wisconsin, Keith Bender and John Heywood, said: “Holding education and other characteristics the same, typical state and local workers earn an average of 11 percent less and 12 percent less, respectively, than comparable private-sector workers.”"

  1. Sen Larson response #2, 2/19/2011

As you know, Senate Democrats have chosen to stand with Wisconsin workers and unions.  We have asked that the Republican majority reconsider their unprecedented attack on Wisconsin workers, their communities and our tradition of working with labor to move Wisconsin forward.  We ask simply that they come to the bargaining table and address the concerns of so many from across Wisconsin.

This bill will also give DHS the authority to make dramatic cuts to vital programs without input from the public or legislature. It will also sell off 36 state owned power plants using NO BID contracts.

The Republicans have refused to negotiate, so we have had to take the only option left, and have walked out.  It is my hope that they will listen and address our concerns.
